Joseph Schull is a Managing Director at Warburg Pincus, one of the leading global private equity firms, based in London, England. Joseph joined Warburg Pincus in 1998 and focuses on the firm's European technology, media and communications investments, as well as its investment activities in Eastern Europe. Joseph has been involved in Warburg Pincus investments in cable television, broadcasting, marketing services, Internet, as well as
pharmaceuticals.

Prior to joining Warburg Pincus, he was Deputy Director in the International Affairs Program at The Ford Foundation, where he developed and managed a grants program to support economic development, legal reform, human rights, and civil societies in transition from Communism. During this period, Ford supported a range of public sector, educational, research and policy analysis, and advocacy institutions including Memorial, the Human Rights Project Group, the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights in Poland, the Institute of Economic Analysis, CASE - Center for Social and Economic Research in Poland, CERGE- EI, the Stefan Batory Foundation, the Trust for Civil Society, the European Roma Rights Centre, and the Public Interest Law Institute.

Born in Montreal, Canada, Joseph received a BA and MA from McGill University, where he studied politics, philosophy and economics. He also studied at the Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris as a Guy Drummond Scholar. He received a PhD from Oxford University, where he was University Lecturer in Soviet and East European Studies from 1990 to 1991. He is currently a director of FiberNet
Communications and Ziggo.
