| Omar Goyenechea has 18 years of M&A, corporate finance and principal investing experience, including corporate restructuring and business development expertise in both established businesses and start-ups. As a Managing Partner at Equitas Partners, a Peru-based M&A/Private Equity advisory boutique he co-founded in 1999, he has been involved in a number of cross-border transactions involving strategic sales, acquisitions, private equity and venture capital investments, project finance, and project co-promotion.
Prior to Equitas, he was part of the acquisition and restructuring team that took over a local commercial bank (NBK) at which he headed the corporate finance effort closing transactions in the construction and the food distribution sectors. He also led NBK's organic M&A activity which included the acquisition of a small retail bank (US$50m), the acquisition of an off-shore private bank (US$150), and the merger with a commercial bank (US$600m).
Also, he was a member of NBK's executive committee and participated actively in the turnaround effort directed at managing NBK's bad loan portfolio and repositioning the operation as a focused commercial bank Prior to NBK, was a Vice-president at Caspian Securities' corporate finance team in New York. Mr. Goyenechea assessed various M&A and private equity opportunities in Latam and executed transactions in the Venezuelan telecommunications sector, the Argentine agribusiness sector, the Brazilian real estate sector, and the Venezuelan real estate sector, among others.
Omar Goyenechea was a Vice-president in Rickell & Associates. At Rickell, executed several transactions for technology companies related to the Internet, security systems, and the medical industry, among others. The first years of his career as a fund manager at Grupo Banesto, Madrid. Starting as an analyst, Mr. Goyenechea grew to earn sole responsibility for the management of Banesto's international funds. He also managed the international investments of the Spanish equity and fixed-income funds.
Mr. Goyenechea holds a BS with honors in Economics from the University of Massachusetts (Boston) and an MBA in Finance from Instituto de Empresa (Madrid). He is Peruvian and fluent in, English, and German.
