Valter Cegal (Brazil) " I had the opportunity to participate in a project with NESsT and TechSoup Global throughout 2009 and part of 2010. In this occasion it was possible to realize the importance of the work that NESsT develops for the third sector, especially in emerging countries such as Brazil. Helping civil society organizations to become sustainable through a training program is a huge challenge, and I think the expertise that NESsT acquired in this area and now applies in its initiatives is something of incredible value. Valter Cegal graduated in Electronic Engineering at the Escola de Engenharia Mauá in 1978. He is currently the Operations Director of Associação Telecentro de Informação e Negócios - ATN. His focus is the work with third sector in the Information Technology support area. In addition he works in Brazil with One Laptop per Child Foundation developing local partnerships and action strategies in the country. He is also the Vice Chairman of the Committee’s Semiconductor of Camara Americana de Comercio de São Paulo (Amcham-SP), which participates in the development of local policies for the semiconductor industry. Valter has over 30 years of experience in the electronics sector, where he has worked on various management positions in business areas of multinational companies including: Ford, Philips Electronics, Arrow Electronics, Flextronics and AMD. |
